Job Summary:The Health Careers Resource Center advises almost pre-health career students at UNO, and a major portion of that effort is helping students prepare for the rigorous and holistic evaluation process for admission into a health professions training program.This position will serve several roles. These include providing feedback on personal statements and applications to programs, scheduling and conducting mock interviews, and writing letters of reference on behalf of the student applicants after receiving faculty feedback. This position will also calculate class rank, maintain the HCRC website and social media feeds, coordinate UHOP communications and events, and responding to e-mails. This role will coordinate schedules of advisors meeting with students and perspective students, receive, summarize, and file significant third-party documentation received on behalf of student applicants to forward to professional schools. This role will design fliers and other materials for perspective students and coordinate off-campus and on-campus visits to regional secondary education facilities to learn more about UNO's pre-health offerings. This role will coordinate in-house visits by UNMC and other regional professional school recruiters for UNO students to visit with, distribute information about immediate healthcare position openings, volunteer opportunities, and scribing positions, and serve as general support to the HCRC full-time advisors.This role will also be the primary application processor of all scholarships and scholarship programs administered in the HCRC, which includes the UHOP scholarship program and multiple donor-funded scholarships from the NU Foundation. This position will also be responsible for coordinating interviews, and regular meetings between supervisory staff and scholarship recipients. This role will also coordinate with counterparts at UNMC in relation to pipeline scholar program recipients in relation to current progress, issues of concern, and efforts to expand funding opportunities to students. This role will also work with NU Foundation in funding scholarships via the HCRC, and be responsible for placing orders in eShop for all HCRC-related materials and supplies, and process Pcard transactions.
