Forklift Operator- Freezer 2nd shift

Overview:

Starting Pay of $29.73/Hour

Responsible for operating industrial equipment and forklift trucks to perform all material handling assignments. Identify and transport material to and from storage areas, machines, and loading docks, into trailers. Works in a freezer environment, and cold environment clothing is provided. This is a 2nd shift position (M-F 4p-12a)

Responsibilities:

• Performs operation and safety checks on equipment before use.
• Familiarizes self with productive capacity of machines or loading schedule of shipping services to assure prompt delivery of required items to proper destination, so that equipment does not shut down.
• Uses snips to open loads, removes strapping and wrapping and safely disposes in designated containers and areas. Places protective materials around load and uses hand or automatic strapping equipment to secure loads for final shipment to customers.
• Removes empty skids and stacks skids in designated areas.
• Proceeds safely to assigned area to pull, load, and move merchandise and all documents specific to each type of merchandise.
• Completes cleaning duties at the end of designated shift
• Completes safety check on equipment prior to usage including but not limited to battery, brakes, lift controls, and computer.
• Moves or lifts up to 75 lbs.
• Required to operate labeling equipment when needed
• Required to operate heavy machinery such as forklifts etc.
• Employees shall follow all GMP & Food safety requirements
• Perform other duties as required or directed.
• Must be able to meet production standards of quota required

Qualifications:

• Familiarity with warehouse and/or distribution facility.
• Team player.
• Able to perform multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Basic knowledge of computer functions on a keyboard.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous job experience as a forklift operator preferred.
• Experience in the distribution industry a plus.

Working Conditions/Environment:

This position requires good hand/eye coordination and motor functions for computer keyboards, driving forklifts etc. This position requires standing - 98% of shift, lifting/bending - 50%, working in 35 environment - 75 % and walking - 25% of shift. The individual that possesses this position must have basic reading, writing and mathematics skills. Must be able to lift/pick 2375 cases per shift (average weight 15 lbs. per case). Position requires a high degree of attention to prevent injuries to others. Must be able to work in freezer environment.
