SEEKING LEGAL ASSISTANT

Bourlon & Davis, P.A., a family law firm in Durham NC established in 1980 and well known for providing quality legal services to clients in Durham and surrounding counties, seeks to hire a legal assistant who is available to begin work immediately.

Key Responsibilities Include:

· Support attorneys in multiple practice areas

· Draft, review, and file legal documents with the courts and government agencies

· Communicate in a professional manner with prospective clients, existing clients, attorneys, and other businesses on a regular basis to gather necessary information and identify any potential issues or concerns.

· Maintain accurate records and ensure timely completion of all required filings and deadlines

· Foster collaboration, proactive problem solving, and solution driven communication

· Review incoming mail and electronic information from litigants, other attorneys, courts, and other government filing systems

· Route items for filing or necessary action and track case relate information to ensure timely compliance of actions

· Perform various clerical duties such as scheduling appointments, providing information to clients, composing routine correspondence, and managing a calendar control system.

· Prepare summaries of telephone calls for attorneys or other staff members.

· Track billable and non-billable time.

· Follow office procedures.

· Handle sensitive client data with utmost discretion, care, and accuracy.

· Ability to work independently

· Perform basic legal and background research and assist in gathering evidence, documents, and other relevant information

Our Ideal Candidates will possess:

· A high school diploma or equivalent

· A college degree (2 years) and/ or paralegal certificate holder preferred

· Strong attention to detail, with the ability to manage complex information

· Ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities effectively

· Professional demeanor and client focused mindset

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office

· Excellent typing and basic computer skills

· North Carolina Notary holder preferred

· Excellent writing, organizational and communication skills

· Team oriented mindset with a balance of professionalism, humility, and humor

· Proficient in administrative tasks such as scheduling, filing, and record keeping

· Ability to communicate effectively with all audiences including clients, attorneys, co-workers,

· Reliable transportation and the ability to arrive consistently and punctually at 8:30am, Monday through Friday of each week.

· Normal work hours are 8:30am until 5:00pm, with willingness on the Firm's part to accommodate and be flexible with the successful candidate in establishing a specific work schedule to best suit the candidate and the Firm.

· A proactive mindset and willingness to go above and beyond on simple requests to make things easier for others.

Salary Range: $42,000-$62,000 annually.
