Job Title: Data Architect (ETL Architect)

Location: Tallahassee, FL (On-site)

Duration: Contract through June + possible extension

Job Overview:

Client is seeking a skilled Data Architect (ETL Architect) to lead the development of data integration pipelines within the Correction Information Management System (CIMS) Data Warehouse/Data Lake on Azure. The architect will design, implement, and optimize ETL workflows, transforming complex data into actionable insights while ensuring data integrity, security, and performance.

Key Responsibilities:

ETL Pipeline Design & Development:

  • Lead design and development of high-performance ETL processes to integrate and transform data from diverse sources.
  • Utilize Azure Data Factory (ADF) to automate and streamline data workflows.
  • Ensure efficient, secure, and reliable pipelines that meet business and compliance needs.

Data Integration & Transformation:

  • Build and manage complex ETL workflows for downstream analytics and reporting.
  • Ensure data quality and validation, delivering only trusted data to targets.

Cloud Platform Expertise:

  • Leverage Azure ecosystem tools (ADF, Databricks, Synapse, Purview) for processing structured and unstructured data.
  • Integrate large datasets into Azure Synapse Analytics for actionable insights.

Performance Optimization:

  • Continuously optimize ETL jobs to minimize latency and maximize throughput.
  • Ensure fast and reliable data access for end-users and systems.

Security & Compliance:

  • Embed security and compliance best practices across ETL processes.
  • Use Azure Purview for data governance, lineage tracking, and regulatory compliance.

Collaboration & Leadership:

  • Partner with cross-functional teams to design and implement ETL solutions.
  • Mentor junior team members and provide expert guidance on data processing best practices.

Documentation & Best Practices:

  • Maintain clear documentation of ETL processes and data workflows.
  • Establish and enforce best practices for ETL development, data handling, and security.

Required Experience:

  • 7+ years in ETL development and data engineering.
  • 3+ years hands-on experience with ADF, Azure Cloud, Azure Databricks, Azure Synapse Analytics, and Azure Purview.
  • Strong experience building and optimizing large-scale ETL pipelines.
  • Expertise in Spark, Python, and/or Scala for data transformations.
  • Advanced SQL skills with complex data structures.
  • Knowledge of data governance, security protocols, and role-based access control (RBAC) in Azure.
  • Ability to design resilient, efficient, and compliant ETL processes.

Preferred Experience:

  • Microsoft Azure certifications (Data Engineer Associate, Solutions Architect Expert, Azure Fundamentals).
  • Azure Databricks Data Engineer Associate certification.
