Industrial Mechanic

The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for the safe inspections, maintenance and repairs of forklift, tractor trailers, balers, conveyors, loaders and other heavy machinery.

Essential Job Functions:

● Assists in pre-operational checks

● Performs routine preventative maintenance

● Submits completed accurate and detailed work orders to supervisor immediately upon completion of repair.

Duties & Responsibilities:

● Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions.

● Carry out assigned dept pre-operational checks.

● Follow all company safety rules, such as Lock-Out/Tag-Out operations to ensure the safe repair of any piece of equipment.

● Attends/Participates in weekly safety meetings.

● Reports accidents and incidents of any kind immediately to supervisor.

● Troubleshoot by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments.

● Removes defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools; examining form and texture of parts.

● Controls downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques; monitoring compliance.

● Conserves maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.

● Provides mechanical maintenance information by answering questions and requests.

● Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.

● Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

● Performing other duties as assigned by direct supervisor or department manager.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently push pull or carry up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Must be able to climb ladders and stairs. Must be able to utilize hand tools and operator controls.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. This role is also often exposed to weather conditions such as heat, cold, rain, high winds and dusty or muddy areas depending on assignment.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. The expected work hours are 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday.

Required Education and Experience

1. High school diploma or equivalent.

2. Technical training; exposure to high-speed equipment.

3. Desire at least 2 years of related experience in related area.
