Position Overview

The Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS) is a vital member of the Reliance Recovery Center team. In this role, you will use your lived recovery experience, professional training, and peer support competencies to guide individuals on their personal recovery journeys. You will offer mentorship, advocacy, and encouragement, while maintaining a recovery-oriented, person-centered, and trauma-informed approach to care.

Key ResponsibilitiesPeer Support & Client Engagement

  • Provide individualized peer recovery support to assist clients in maintaining sobriety and building recovery capital.
  • Partner with clients to develop personalized recovery goals and action plans.
  • Utilize motivational interviewing, strengths-based practices, and recovery-oriented approaches to increase empowerment and autonomy.
  • Assist clients in navigating addiction, mental health, and community-based support systems.

Resource Navigation & Advocacy

  • Connect clients with essential services, including housing, food assistance, medical and mental health care, employment programs, and recovery housing.
  • Advocate for client needs, preferences, and rights across systems of care.
  • Support client self-advocacy and facilitate linkages to community-based Recovery Community Organizations (RCOs).

Documentation & Administrative Duties

  • Document all client interactions, services, and progress in Procentive within 24 hours.
  • Schedule and maintain client appointments using EHR scheduling tools.
  • Complete email correspondence, reports, and documentation in a timely and organized manner.

Collaboration & Professional Development

  • Attend and actively participate in weekly CPRS supervision and monthly Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC) supervision meetings.
  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with treatment centers, detox facilities, hospitals, probation, recovery organizations, and community partners.
  • Model professional, trauma-informed, and pro-social behavior that aligns with Reliance Recovery Center values and ethical guidelines.
  • Uphold all ethical standards outlined in the Minnesota Certification Board Code of Ethics and organizational policies.

Qualifications

  • Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS) credential through the Minnesota Certification Board is required.
  • Lived experience with substance use and recovery, with at least one year of demonstrated recovery preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and boundary-setting skills.
  • Ability to engage diverse populations with empathy, cultural awareness, and professionalism.
  • Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Procentive preferred.
  • Ability to work independently, maintain confidentiality, and uphold ethical standards.

Pay: $ $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 15.0 – 25.0 per week
