We're looking for a Fabrication Shop Manager who thrives in a fast-paced, detail-driven environment. This role is ideal for a builder who understands how design intent, detailing, and field execution intersect and can lead a fabrication team that delivers uncompromising quality.

Position Overview

The Fabrication Shop Manager oversees the day-to-day operations of Viotell's metal fabrication facility here in Salt Lake City, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and craftsmanship in all shop output.

You will manage personnel, workflow, material logistics, and quality control for Roofing system comonenets, ACM panels, custom metal flashings, soffit/fascia systems, and specialty cladding assemblies.

This role reports directly to the Director of Construction and works closely with Project Managers, Field Superintendents, and the Business Operations team to maintain smooth production flow and schedule adherence.

Key Responsibilities

Production Oversight

  • Plan, schedule, and manage fabrication workflow for all active projects.
  • Prioritize production based on install schedules and project readiness.
  • Maintain daily production logs and delivery coordination.

Personnel & Leadership

  • Supervise fabricators, apprentices, and shop leads (3-5+ team members).
  • Enforce safety protocols, training, and continuous improvement standards.
  • Conduct weekly shop meetings to review workload, targets, and quality metrics.

Quality Control

  • Ensure all fabricated components meet tolerance and finish standards.
  • Verify drawings, cut lists, and assemblies prior to release.
  • Partner with PMs and Field Leads to resolve fabrication/design conflicts.

Material & Inventory Management

  • Manage incoming materials, consumables, and tooling inventory.
  • Coordinate with vendors for lead times, deliveries, and just-in-time purchasing.
  • Track waste and yield to support cost reporting and margin control.

Collaboration & Reporting

  • Work with Project Managers to align fabrication priorities with project schedules.
  • Communicate daily output and constraints to Operations and Field leadership.
  • Participate in weekly operations meetings to review shop readiness and constraints.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience in architectural metals, ACM, or façade fabrication.
  • Proven leadership experience managing production teams and shop operations.
  • Deep understanding of metal fabrication processes, tolerances, and equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural and shop drawings.
  • Strong communication and scheduling skills; experience with ERP or project software preferred (Bendex, Zoho, Monday, Procore, or similar).
  • Commitment to quality, safety, and craftsmanship.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60, $80,000.00 per year
