UTILITY/FOOD SERVICE WORKER

NON-EXEMPT

BASIC FUNTIONS

Ensure that all stored food is properly covered, labeled, and dated.

Responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of posts and pans, serving utensils, dish room area, the general kitchen area, or all walk-in boxes and storeroom as assigned by shift supervisor.

Prepare, set up, and re-stock salad, dressings, desserts, and other perishable food items following the HACCP system (hazard analysis critical control point) and the health code sanitation regulations.

Receive, check, and store properly all deliveries: all food items i.e. fresh, canned, or frozen; staples and supplies (paper and cleaning supplies).

Adhere to safety and sanitation standards established by the department, report any faulty equipment or unsafe conditions to the supervisor.

KITCHEN ASSIGNMENT:

  • Clean beverage containers thoroughly and prepare assorted beverages as needed for the hydration program of residents.
  • Deliver and pick up all food carts to each nursing unit and ensure that the "truck delivery record" is signed by the nursing staff when delivered.
  • Fix early bag meals for residents who are either going out for tests or dialysis.
  • May be assigned to the following areas after the tray line meal is completed: get trays from each nursing unit, pots, and pans, in the dish room or serve in the cafeteria during meal hours, seep and/or mop the kitchen, etc.
  • Whenever assigned in the dish room as "break down or catch" follow established procedures for cleaning and setting up of dish machine.
  • Clean and sanitize all tables, chairs, counters, and railings before and after each meal, weekends general special cleaning of the cafeteria.
  • Work in the tray line station and the kitchen as assigned on weekends.
  • Complete set up of resident supplements and sort them according to nursing units.
  • Prepare and serve food according to the set portion control standards and maintain food at the proper temperature.
  • Prepare, store, and serve special nourishments, and snacks according to prescribed instructions.
  • Properly unload carts, trays, dishes, silverware, etc. discarding food and paper and follow proper pre-rinsing and pre-soaking and stacking techniques.
  • Observe dish machine temperatures during operation and report any discrepancies to the supervisor.
  • Clean and sanitize all carts, dish machines, and their area after each operation.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.95 per hour

Expected hours: 24 per week
