Job Title: Electronic Assembler / Technician
Overview
The Electronic Assembler/Technician is responsible for assembling, testing, troubleshooting, and repairing electronic components, devices, and equipment. This role ensures that products meet quality standards, engineering specifications, and safety requirements while supporting production goals.
Key Responsibilities
Assembly & Fabrication
Assemble electronic components, circuit boards, wiring, harnesses, and sub-assemblies using hand tools, soldering equipment, and basic machinery.
- Interpret and follow schematics, wiring diagrams, blueprints, bills of materials (BOMs), and work instructions.
- Perform surface-mount and through-hole soldering as required.
Testing & Inspection
Conduct functional tests using meters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, test fixtures, and automated test equipment.
- Inspect completed assemblies for defects, quality compliance, and accuracy.
- Document test results and report issues to engineering or supervision.
Troubleshooting & Repair
Identify and diagnose faults in electronic circuits and components.
- Perform rework, repairs, and modifications as needed.
- Collaborate with engineering staff to resolve technical problems.
Process & Documentation
Maintain accurate production records, test logs, and quality documentation.
- Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and maintain compliance with quality and safety standards (e.g., ISO, IPC).
Safety & Maintenance
Operate tools and equipment safely and maintain a clean, organized work area.
- Ensure proper handling and protection of electrostatic-sensitive devices (ESD).
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; technical certificate or associate degree in electronics preferred.
- Prior experience in electronic assembly or related technical field.
- Proficiency with soldering, hand tools, and electronic test equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and documentation.
- Strong attention to detail, manual dexterity, and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with IPC-A-610 or J-STD-001 standards is a plus.
