About Starrland Learning Academy

Starrland Learning Academy, LLC is a newly licensed child care center in Rio Grande City committed to providing a strong educational foundation, a nurturing environment, and dependable care for young children. As we prepare for opening, we are looking for a motivated and dependable Daycare Center Director to help establish daily operations, support staff, and ensure we meet all state licensing requirements.

For the right candidate, Starrland Learning Academy will cover the cost of the Texas Director Credential. Training, guidance, and hands-on leadership support will be provided as part of the development process.

Position Overview

The Daycare Center Director will oversee the daily operation of the center, including licensing compliance, staff support, curriculum oversight, parent communication, and overall program quality. This position requires a dependable, organized, and professional individual who is committed to providing high-quality early childhood care.

Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Staff Support

• Train, mentor, and supervise classroom staff
• Assist with classroom coverage and provide support as needed
• Promote teamwork, professionalism, and positive staff communication

Licensing & Operations

• Ensure compliance with Texas Child Care Licensing Minimum Standards
• Maintain accurate documentation including attendance, staff records, and incident reports
• Prepare for and respond to Licensing inspections
• Help maintain a safe, clean, and organized facility environment

Curriculum & Program Quality

• Support teachers in planning and implementing developmentally appropriate activities
• Review lesson plans and classroom routines
• Ensure high standards of classroom supervision and learning environments

Family Support & Communication

• Welcome families and respond to parent questions professionally
• Participate in tours, enrollment, and daily communication with families
• Help create a warm and supportive experience for children and parents

Health, Safety, & Emergency Preparedness

• Ensure hygiene, safety, and illness policies are followed at all times
• Maintain current CPR/First Aid certification
• Lead and document emergency drills as required by Licensing

Administrative Duties

• Assist with staffing schedules and daily operational needs
• Monitor inventory and supplies
• Work closely with ownership to uphold the center's standards and goals

Qualifications

• Bilingual English/Spanish required
• At least 2 years of experience in a licensed childcare or educational setting
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
• Ability to adapt, multitask, and support multiple roles during start-up phases
• Texas Director Credential preferred; willingness to obtain is required
• Must meet all state licensing requirements and pass background checks
