Job Title: Pharmacy Technician
As a Pharmacy Technician, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe and effective delivery of medications to patients. You will collaborate with pharmacists and healthcare professionals to provide exceptional patient care, manage medication distribution, and support the overall pharmacy operations. Your expertise will contribute to enhancing patient outcomes and ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations.
What you'll do
- Assist in the preparation and dispensing of medications, including intravenous (IV) infusions, while adhering to aseptic techniques.
- Provide outstanding patient service by answering inquiries, educating patients on medication usage, and ensuring their needs are met.
- Maintain accurate records of medication administration and inventory management in accordance with medical terminology standards.
- Collaborate with healthcare teams in acute care settings to support patient intake processes and optimize medication therapies.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and pharmacy policies while maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
- Participate in quality assurance activities to enhance pharmacy services and improve patient safety.
- Stay updated on new medications, treatments, and pharmacy practices to provide informed support to patients and healthcare providers.
Basic qualifications
- Proven experience as a Pharmacy Technician in a hospital or long-term care (LTC) pharmacy setting.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology related to pharmaceuticals and patient care.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience in critical care environments or acute care settings.
- Proficiency in IV infusion preparation and administration.
- Familiarity with aseptic techniques and infection control practices.
- Excellent communication skills for effective patient interaction.
