Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Accounting Assistant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting principles and practices, as well as experience with various accounting software. This role is essential in supporting our financial operations, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, and maintaining compliance with relevant regulations.

Duties

  • Assist in the preparation and maintenance of financial statements in accordance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements.
  • Perform accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, including invoice processing and payment tracking.
  • Conduct balance sheet reconciliation and general ledger accounting to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Prepare journal entries and maintain accurate records of all transactions through double entry bookkeeping.
  • Support payroll management processes using systems such as HR Butler
  • Engage in account analysis and assist with budgeting processes to support financial planning.
  • Utilize accounting software such as Sage, for data entry and financial reporting tasks.
  • Collaborate on technical accounting issues and provide support for tax-related matters as needed.
  • Maintain organized documentation for audits and compliance with SOX regulations.
  • Assist in the preparation of reports for bonding agent as needed

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in accounting principles including debits & credits, account reconciliation, and bookkeeping practices.
  • Familiarity with financial concepts such as credit analysis, financial acumen, budgeting, and account analysis.
  • Experience with various accounting software (e.g., Sage 100) is required.
  • Strong data entry skills with a focus on accuracy; 10-key typing proficiency is a plus.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while also being self-motivated to complete tasks independently.
  • Excellent mathematical skills and attention to detail are essential for success in this role.
  • Previous experience in public accounting or corporate accounting is advantageous but not mandatory. Join our team and contribute to the success of our organization by ensuring the integrity of our financial operations
