Summer Camp Supervisor

The Camp Supervisor oversees the daily operations of camp programs and ensures a safe, fun, and enriching environment for all campers and staff. This role supports staff supervision, activity coordination, parent communication, and overall program quality, working closely with the Fitness Director and other leadership to deliver a high-quality camp experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Staff Supervision & Leadership
- Supervise and support camp counselors, junior staff, and activity leaders during daily operations.
- Provide coaching, performance feedback, and assist with scheduling or coverage.
- Model and reinforce professional conduct, team collaboration, and positive behavior.
Program Execution & Oversight
- Ensure the smooth delivery of daily activities, special events, and group transitions.
- Monitor activity areas for safety, organization, and camper engagement.
- Assist with implementing and adapting the camp schedule to accommodate needs or challenges (weather, behavior, attendance, etc.).
Camper Well-being & Behavior Management
- Promote a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment for all participants.
- Manage behavioral incidents using positive discipline strategies and escalate when needed.
- Monitor camper health and safety, and respond to accidents or emergencies per protocol.
Parent Communication & Customer Service
- Serve as a point of contact for camper parents/guardians during drop-off, pick-up, and throughout the day.
- Address parent questions, concerns, or feedback in a professional and timely manner.
- Assist with registration support and maintaining camper records.
Administrative Support & Safety
- Complete reports such as attendance, incident logs, and daily recaps.
- Ensure staff follow safety and emergency protocols.
- Support inventory tracking, equipment setup, and facility readiness.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework in Education, Recreation, or related field preferred.
- Minimum 2--3 years experience working in a camp or youth program, with at least 1 year in a leadership or supervisory role.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to motivate staff, manage group dynamics, and address conflict constructively.
- Excellent communication skills with both children and adults.
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
