Slater's 50/50 Kitchen Supervisor Job Description
A national gourmet burger restaurant is looking for an energetic and talented Lead Cook to assist with daily operations. The award winning casual concept features signature gourmet burgers and a large selection of draft beers on tap.
The concept is a destination restaurant with over 16,000+ Yelp reviews across its other stores and has been featured on Zagat's Review, NBC Los Angeles and Business Insider.
A successful candidate will have culinary and leadership experience. We're looking for a creative, motivating professional who doesn't mind contributing to prep work, line cooking, kitchen cleaning, or even delivering food when necessary, but who is also not afraid to delegate. The Lead Cook will report to the Sous Chef and Executive Chef.
Major Responsibilities:
· Ensures that all food products meet company recipe specifications for preparation and quality. Maintain timing standards during production.
· Inspects and approve dishes before they go to guest tables. Examine and assess the quality of ingredients and presentation.
· Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with kitchen execution.
· Ensure kitchen is fully set up for opening, and thoroughly cleaned for closing.
· Follow maintenance program and cleaning schedule.
· Train new team members on menu items and enforce standards.
· Train junior kitchen team members through coaching and leading by example.
· Foster teamwork among the kitchen team members.
· Records all waste (food product) on tracking sheet
· Assists KM in counting weekly inventory
· Ensures compliance with health and safety regulations. Checking food temperatures, sanitation levels, proper storage, etc.
· Cooking when needed to support the flow of the business
· Constant deferral to KM or GM for business decisions that will affect financials.
· Notify management of any pertinent information related to shift activities.
Essential Requirements
· High School Diploma preferred; some college or hospitality background preferred
· A dedication to quality food and clean kitchen environment
· Ability to problem solve and handle high stress situations in a fast paced environment
· 2 - 3 years of line and prep cooking experience.
· High motivation with strong interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills
· Written and verbal communication skills
· Strong leadership and assessment skills
· Able to act quickly and decisively
· Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
· Willingness to work irregular hours, nights and weekends, while on your feet
· Ability to demonstrate and teach the company's mission and culture
· Able to obtain Servsafe Manager Certification
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $ $22.00 per hour
Expected hours: 35 – 45 per week
