Position: Electrician I
Hourly Starting Salary Range: $25.33 to $31.91 (DOQ)
Direct Supervisor: Assistant Maintenance Mgr. - Electrical/Instrumentation & Controls
Normal Work Hours: Day Shift 7:00am to 3:30pm, M-F, with some overtime required.
Location (s): Lewisville & Aubrey, TX
Position Function:
Performs necessary duties to inspect, repair, construct, retrofit and maintain electrical systems and related equipment for the District's water and wastewater treatment systems and other facilities, ensuring that all work complies with applicable safety and electrical codes and regulations.
Typical/Essential Duties:
- Assist in maintaining and repairing all electrical systems associated with water/wastewater treatment processes facilities and remote sites. Support installation and troubleshooting of electric motors, pump control circuits, starters, variable frequency drives (VFDs), motor control centers, switchboards, breaker panels, power distribution, transformers, lighting equipment, relays, level controls, automation control circuits, instrumentation equipment, motorized valve operators, and chemical feed systems. Use multimeters, megohm testers, amp clamps, and other diagnostic tools to evaluate equipment performance.
- Assist in performing preventative maintenance on electrical systems. Report and track all maintenance activities in the District's CMMS program. Assist in installing all types of conduits, pulling wire and cable, installing junction boxes and enclosures, in accordance with N.E.C. requirements. Maintains regular and punctual on-site attendance.
- Maintains work cleanliness in all areas, organizes and assists in maintaining accurate logs, maintenance records, and asset data. Follow all electrical safety protocols including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and confined space entry procedures.
- Assist with general electrical maintenance on all facilities, buildings and structures, including but not limited to, battery back-up equipment, security, HVAC systems, and lights
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications / Experience
- High School Diploma or GED is required.
- One (1) year of experience with basic mechanical and electrical knowledge in residential, commercial, and/or industrial settings is required.
- Must have the ability to read, interpret, analyze and understand electrical diagrams and blueprints of any electrical system, related technical manuals, schematics and construction plan documents.
- Must obtain a State of Texas Apprentice Electrician License within six (6) months of the hire date.
- Must complete annual continuing education each license cycle.
- A valid Class 'C' Texas Driver's License is required.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
Physical Requirements:
- Frequent walk, bend, squat, climb, and kneel.
- Ability to lift, push or pull items weighing up to 50 pounds.
Must be able to pass applicable pre-employment Drug Screen, Physical, and Background Checks.
