The Junior Cyber Security Engineer supports daily security operations and helps safeguard GL TECHS and client networks from cyber threats. This position is ideal for someone eager to start a career in cybersecurity with hands-on exposure to tools, frameworks, and real-world incidents.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor security alerts, network traffic, and system logs for unusual activity.
  • Assist with vulnerability assessments, patching, and remediation.
  • Support configuration and maintenance of firewalls, endpoint protection, and SIEM tools.
  • Help respond to security incidents and document findings.
  • Support identity and access management (IAM) and compliance initiatives (NIST, ISO
  • Participate in system hardening and security policy implementation.
  • Maintain accurate security documentation and reports.
  • Stay current on cybersecurity trends, risks, and tools.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

Experience:

  • 0–2 years of cybersecurity, IT, or network administration experience.
  • Internships or academic projects in cybersecurity are a plus.

Technical Skills:

  • Basic knowledge of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, VPNs, firewalls).
  • Familiarity with Windows, Linux, or cloud environments (AWS, Azure).
  • Experience with or interest in SIEM, IDS/IPS, and vulnerability scanners.
  • Understanding of security frameworks such as NIST and ISO 27001.
  • Scripting knowledge (Python, PowerShell, Bash) a plus.

Preferred Certifications:

  • CompTIA Security+, CEH, or equivalent entry-level security certification.

  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.

  • Team player with a proactive attitude.
  • Willingness to learn and grow in the cybersecurity field.

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident (Green Card holder).
