We are seeking a part-time Medical Records Specialist at our family medicine clinic. This is an onsite position. In this role, you will manage incoming and outgoing records requests, ensuring patient data is accurate, complete, and securely maintained in compliance with HIPAA. You will work closely with patients, medical personnel, and external partners to provide records as needed, while safeguarding sensitive information. This position is to ensure seamless access to records for patient care, audits, and other requests, helping us deliver exceptional services. This position is flexible 15-20 hours per week, 4:30 pm to 8 pm.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for managing patient health records.
  • Receive and process requests for patient health information by external sources and patients, in a timely manner, in accordance with Grandview Family Medicine policies and procedures.
  • Prepare invoices and process payments.
  • Request patient records from external sources and scan documents into the EMR system.
  • Responsible for safeguarding patient records against unauthorized disclosure and ensuring compliance with HIPAA standards.
  • Creates digital images of paperwork to be stored in the electronic medical record.
  • Answering of inbound/outbound calls.
  • May assist with patient walk-ins.
  • May assist with administrative duties such as handling faxes, opening mail, data entry, and other duties as assigned.
  • Abide by HIPAA laws and maintaining confidentiality.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience working in a medical office setting is preferred.
  • Familiarity with EMR systems.
  • Experience with QuickBooks.
  • Professional phone and communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and able to multi-task.
  • Proficiency in use of computers, spreadsheets, and EMR.
  • Proactive and motivated individual who can work independently.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From $15.00 per hour

Expected hours: 15 – 20 per week
