We are looking for a FAS Supervisor

The
FAS Supervisor
plays a pivotal role in safeguarding public welfare by overseeing the review and inspection of various factory-built structures, including manufactured homes, modular buildings, and commercial units. This position provides supervisory leadership and technical support to FAS inspectors and other stakeholders. It ensures that inspections and enforcement activities align with state laws and regulations governing factory-assembled structures.

The mission of the Factory Assembled Structures (FAS) program is to protect public safety for the residents of Washington State who live and work in manufactured housing and other factory-built structures regulated by the program. This is achieved through clear processes and interpretations that identify construction defects and ensure their correction during inspections. The program also provides clear guidance on requirements to consumers, manufacturers, contractors, and the general public.

The duty station for this position can be anywhere in Eastern Washington. This position the position can telework and also requires field work.

Duties
Some Of What You Will Do

  • Responsible for the administration, planning, supervision, integrity and quality of FAS inspection activities.
  • Ensures that performance criteria are met by inspectors, and that staff work is consistent and uniform with established goals, policies and procedures, complaints from staff, customers, and other stakeholders.
  • Sets expectations/goals for staff, monitors performance and holds staff accountable for meeting their individual goals.
  • Provides mentoring, coaching and assistance to inspectors on complex matters and public relations.
  • Reviews inspection activities, invoices, reports and infractions written for non-compliance with installer certification laws Revised Code of Washington (RCW) 43.22A and RCW 43.22 for accuracy, completeness, and correct documentation.
  • Conducts accompanied field visits and rides along with inspectors to evaluate performance, and correct documentation. Conducts accompanied field visits and rides along with inspectors to evaluate performance.
  • Analyzes data showing field and factory inspection activity and provides reports to the FAS supervisors, FAS Chief and management to assist them in determining workload
  • Hires, trains, and evaluates employee job performance. Conducts annual performance appraisals and mid-year progress reviews. Provides coaching and feedback, including corrective action as needed.
  • Provides technical assistance and interpretation to FAS inspectors on complex issues related to factory-assembled structure and factory-built structure issues.

Qualifications
Required:
Three Years Of Experience Performing One Of The Following
FAS Inspector 2 or equivalent work experience.

OR

FAS Plans Examiner 2 or equivalent work experience.

OR

Building official, assistant building official or inspection supervisor for a city, town or county building department.

Certification by the International Code Council as a building official or building inspector.

Certification as a Washington State Production Inspection Primary Inspection Agency (IPIA) inspector.

In Addition
Possess working knowledge and the ability to understand FAS codes and capable to look up and reference code standards.

Ability to read and review drawings for compliance.

A valid and unrestricted driver license.

Preferred/Desired Qualifications
Previous building inspection or associated supervisor experience.
