Summary:
As member of the Global Legal team, the Manager, Legal Counsel is an experienced lawyer who provides effective and efficient legal support, advice and guidance to management, business and functional teams.
The Manager, Legal acts as liaison for business and functional team, outside legal counsel and third parties.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provide legal advice and support on a wide range of legal activities to global and regional business and function teams
- Draft, review and negotiate simple and complex contracts and other legal documents
- Deal with all legal matters in the area of responsibility and serve as legal advisor on business transactions, including acquisitions, divestitures and joint ventures, assigned to the SLC
- Represent the department as required in liaison with the business and functional teams
- Handle or assist in litigation and other disputes or inquiries by authorities, including draft written submissions and petitions and, if requested and where permissible, represent the Company in front of courts and other authorities
- Advise on legislation, government regulations or court decisions that may affect Joyson Safety Systems
- Manage external counsel efficiently and cost-effectively in assigned matters
- Participate in the development and implementation of corporate policies, procedures and programs ensuring the company is conducting business in compliance with applicable laws and regulations
- Maintain appropriate case files and records for handled matters
- Support the legal & compliance risk assessment
- Support and implement global legal functional excellence initiatives
- Other duties as assigned

- Fluent (both oral and written) in English, proficiency in another relevant language is a plus
- Profound negotiation and drafting skills
- Strong computer skills (word, outlook, power point, etc.)
Education & Experience:
- Successfully completed legal studies at an accredited law school and admission to the bar in good standing
- Preferably, a Master of Laws (LL.M.) or comparable law degree from a university located in a common law country (e.g., UK, US or Australia), or in case of UK or US qualified lawyers, a law degree from a university in a civil law country
- At least 5 years of PQE, acquired preferably both in private practice in an international law firm and in-house
