This position is remote, but you must be local to Phoenix, AZ.

U-Haul is seeking a Senior Systems Administrator to join the platform operations team as a Windows server, and Database Administrator. The ideal candidate will have an outgoing personality, be self-motivated, have strong interpersonal skills, and a positive attitude. Additionally, they will have experience working with Microsoft SQL, high availability, and working in large environments.

Duties:


•       Managing SQL Server & Database access


•       Monitor and respond to SQL server performance degradation


•       Make optimization recommendations to SQL queries


•       Troubleshoot issues with applications connecting to SQL databases


•       Perform SQL server and database maintenance


•       Monitor database backups


•       Respond to capacity issues on database servers


•       Perform SQL upgrades and Server migrations


•       Research, review, and test new versions of database platforms


•       Engaged with all major issues related to database platforms, reviewing for faster future resolution


•       Design complex solutions, partnering with other Technology groups


•       Research emerging technologies


•       Mentor other members of the team


•       Participate in an on-call rotation

Requirements/Education:


• years of experience with Microsoft SQL 2016 or newer. Duties could include those listed above


• years of Windows Server experience. Duties could include patching, managing access, troubleshooting performance, etc.


•       Experience with cloud-hosted databases, both native and virtual


•       CentOS/RHEL/Oracle Linux experience preferred


•       Postgres experience preferred


• year computer technology degree or equivalent work experience required
