The University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for Manager of Human Resources, School of Dental Medicine [R0149755]

ROLE of the POSITION

The Manager of Human Resources oversees the day-to-day operations of the School of Dental Medicine's (SDM) human resources functions, ensuring consistent and compliant delivery of HR services that support the school's mission and workforce needs. The position provides leadership in full-cycle recruitment, onboarding, HR data management, and compliance.

This position plays a key role by managing the recruitment, hiring, and onboarding processes for all SDM employee groups, including academic, academic clinical, classified, postdoctoral, temporary, student, part-time, and volunteer positions. The Manager also serves as a liaison to school leadership, Payroll, and UNLV Central HR to resolve HR-related issues and ensure alignment with institutional policy and best practices.

The HR Manager also supports day-to-day HR operations, contributing to a positive employee experience and reinforcing a strong workplace culture. This position provides support for HR operations, Workday functions, preparing reports, conducting research, managing special projects, and serving as a backup for other HR functions as needed. This position also directly supervises the Talent Acquisition Coordinator.

PROFILE of the SCHOOL

UNLV School of Dental Medicine, the only accredited dental school in Nevada, opened its doors during fall 2002 offering a doctor of dental medicine degree to an initial cohort of 75 students. Today, the school receives more than 1,800 applications for an available 82 seats within its pre-doctoral program; offers eight academic degree and advanced education certificate programs; conducts biomedical research within 4,000 square feet of laboratory space; hosts continuing education classes to industry professionals; leads multiple community outreach programs; and has more than 70,000 patient visits per year.

The School of Dental Medicine's education programs are accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) and have maintained that status since 2002.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

This position requires a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and Three (3) years of related experience, supervisory experience and management experience. Credentials must be obtained prior to the employment start date.

ACCEPTED EQUIVALENCIES FOR DEGREE REQUIREMENT

UNLV may consider additional relevant experience in place of formal education requirements:

  • In lieu of a bachelor's degree, applicants may qualify with four additional years of relevant experience, or with an associate's degree plus two additional years of relevant experience.
  • For positions requiring a master's degree, acceptable equivalents include:
  • Six additional years of relevant experience
  • A bachelor's degree plus two additional years of relevant experience
  • An associate degree plus four additional years of relevant experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master's Degree from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).
  • Experience in higher education, public sector, dental field and unionized environments
