SUMMARY:
The Assistant NJROTC coach will assist the NJROTC Head Coach in providing in-person NJROTC instruction at the Los Alamos High School campus two to three times per week.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop practice plans for NJROTC competition teams.Work with students of varying skill levels to foster growth.Assess student strengths and areas for growth with regular feedback.Foster a positive and productive environment that encourages student participation and collaboration. Assist the Head Coach in planning and managing participation in competitions.Prepare students for competition.Chaperone and coach students at competitions. Travel with the team to local, regional, and national tournaments. Supervise students on trips and monitor for safety.QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Preference to coaches who participated in at least one year of competitive shooting for a team at the high school or college level, or as a competitor or coach. Non-ROTC experience applies.EDUCATION AND / OR EXPERIENCE:
Prior experience working with students or NJROTC competition team setting preferred.SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Ability to communicate effectively with high school students and parents.Ability to define problems, assess situations, and act accordingly for the safety of others.Ability to discuss and instruct students on ROTC topics and shooting. Ability to promote safety in student shooting practices.PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and talk or hear, and sometimes walk and sit. This employee will be required to occasionally lift equipment, carry and push objects, climb or balance, and stoop or kneel.
