Job Summary
: Senior Accountant assists the CFO, VP Finance and Accounting Manager with accounting and finance functions such as month end close and budgeting.

The role involves e-mail and telephone communications with the Company's staff, including the Leadership Team.
The Senior Accountant is responsible for month end close duties, including journal entries and account reconciliations.

Senior Accountants must possess excellent organizational and problem-solving skills, understand the importance of confidentiality and understand accounting processes.

Senior Accountants are self-motivated and able to work independently and without excess direction or supervision. They must also possess a strong attention to detail. Senior Accountants are deadline-driven and have the ability to work confidently and effectively within a high volume, fast-paced environment.

Essential Job Functions

  • Oversee financial reporting processes, including preparation of financial statements, reports, and budgets.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting principles, standards, and regulations.
  • Analyze financial data and provide insights to support strategic decision-making.
  • Coordinate external audits.
  • Conduct variance analysis and recommend corrective actions.
  • Assist with financial planning and forecasting activities.
  • Stay updated with changes in accounting standards and regulations.
  • Prepare ad hoc financial reports and analyses as needed.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on finance-related projects.
  • Monitor cash flow and liquidity to ensure adequate funding through preparation of cash forecast.
  • Complete month end closing, including review of financial statements, and preparation of journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Communicate financial results and recommendations to management.
  • Assist with NetSuite accounting software automation.

Knowledge and Abilities Requirements

  • Advanced knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in financial reporting and analysis.
  • Experience with financial software and ERP systems preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial records.
  • Strategic financial planning and forecasting abilities.
  • Leadership skills in guiding accounting teams and projects.
  • Intermediate – advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Professional writing skills, i.e. ability to draft professional e-mail communications.
  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Proven problem-solving skills.

Non-requisite/Preferred Qualification

  • Familiarity with journal entries.
  • Understanding and ability to read primary financial statements, i.e. balance sheets, income statements, and statements of Cash Flows.
  • Working knowledge of the processes and procedures associated with end-of-month/quarterly reconciliation and closing.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting; CPA certification.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in accounting firm, big 4 preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and standards.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop team members.
  • Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and compliance requirements.
  • Experience with ERP systems and financial reporting tools preferred.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Adaptability and willingness to learn.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Commitment to integrity and ethical conduct.

Work Schedule

  • 5 day/40-hour work week: Mon - Fri 8:30am - 5:30pm CST, with possible overtime to meet deadlines.
