The Science Teacher will provide direct instruction, model best practices, and collaborate with school staff to integrate science curriculum and learning principles throughout the school environment.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Social Work, or related field required.
  • Master's degree in Special Education preferred 
  • Teaching license or certification, or eligibility to obtain one in the Commonwealth of Virginia 
  • Experience working with students in an educational or therapeutic setting
  • Strong knowledge of child development and trauma-informed practices.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
  • Familiarity with military culture and the needs of military-connected families 

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver instruction to students using evidence-based curriculum and strategies.
  • Work closely with therapists, and educators to support students progress towards discharge criteria and Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
  • Provide ongoing support in developing student coping skills, conflict resolution techniques, and emotional regulation 
  • Assist in crisis de-escalation and restorative practices, in alignment with trauma-informed care principles. 
  • Track student data/progress toward goals while maintaining accurate documentation of lessons, behavioral observations, and communication with teams and families. 
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment aligned with the organization's mission and values.
