JSA+Partners, a tight-knit, fast-paced boutique communications firm, is looking for a Senior PR Manager to join our team and spearhead our gaming and sports clients. You would be responsible for leading the internal team as well as developing and implementing public relations strategies including: strategic counsel, client management, thought leadership, and media relations. You will have a great opportunity to join a small team and make a big impact on some of the fastest-growing industries globally.
The role is ideally Los Angeles or New York-based. You are able to come to our HQ (if LA-based) or work with the team while enjoying the flexibility of a hybrid workplace.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Lead key accounts for both startup and global companies and interact with client executives and team members.
• Manage and develop junior communications professionals.
• Develop strategic plans and execute successful campaigns for clients specifically in sports, gaming, and interactive entertainment.
• Develop narratives, positioning, and messaging on behalf of clients.
• Oversee thought leadership programs for executives, including speaking opportunities and award submissions, drafting bylines, and more.
• Maintain and develop strong media relationships, pitch in-depth story ideas, and be responsible for developing creative written materials that reflect an understanding of our clients' businesses.
• Handle many of the day-to-day deliverables, including content creation, events and awards submissions, and project and account management.
• Lead client calls and help guide media interviews.
• Manage media inquiries, interview requests, and prep executives.
• Consistent proactive creative idea generation and media opportunities on behalf of clients.
• Maintain a keen understanding of industry trends affecting clients and make appropriate recommendations regarding communication strategies surrounding them.
• Provide strategic counsel to senior executives and client contacts on a regular basis as well as offer counsel on the fly.
• Support new business development and industry relationship building.
• Occasional on-site PR support of client events.
YOU SHOULD APPLY IF YOU
:
• Have 7+ years of experience in-house or at an agency, including 2-3+ years of management experience.
• Care about your clients and getting wins for them and wanting to go the extra mile.
• Have a comprehensive understanding of the sports and video games landscape.
• Have strong media relationships with reporters in business, tech, sports, gaming, and entertainment.
• Have experience in leading a team and playing a client lead role.
• Have exceptional communication, writing, editing, and organizational skills.
• Are dedicated to putting the work in during the day so you can get on with your life.
• Are a team player and effective collaborator; able to identify roadblocks early and call for help when needed.
• Are a strategic thinker, intellectually curious, a problem solver, and enjoy bringing new ideas to the table.
• Are incredibly organized, detail-oriented, and can manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Are a self-starter and self-confident, but also enjoy having fun.
• Can work in a fast-paced environment, switching back and forth on clients frequently.
• Are focused on working during the day so you can enjoy your life.
• Have a hunger and desire to grow as a professional.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
• Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, public relations or related field.
• A comprehensive understanding of the sports, technology, or video games landscape.
• Strong media relationships with reporters in tech, business, consumer, sports, gaming, and entertainment.
• Exceptional communication, writing, editing, and organizational skills.
