JOB SUMMARY
The Music Therapist provides high quality music therapy services to a wide range of clients in group and 1:1 settings. The Music Therapist also provides services in long-term care settings throughout the Twin Cities Metro area for MacPhail Center for Music's 'Music for Life' program. In addition to providing direct services to clients, the Music Therapist also provides client assessments, session documentation, and other required administrative tasks. The Music Therapist works collaboratively with clients, care givers, and other providers to achieve individualized goals.
RESPONSIBILITES and ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Therapeutic ServicesProvide high quality therapeutic services, music therapy interventions, assessments, treatment planning, and documentation and in both individual and group settings for clients Adapt music therapy resources, materials and music therapy interventions to the specific needs of the client or group participants, as neededFoster an inclusive, client-centered learning environment through the establishment of good rapport with clients, families, and partnershipsCommunicate and encourage open discussion with clients, families, and partnerships regarding client's progress, future development planning, scheduling, and all other related administrative policies AdministrativeComplete all regulatory and required documentation of services providedCommunity & Culture BuildingSupport outreach and communication efforts to help raise awareness, engage new participants, and connect the work of the department to the broader communityModel curiosity, openness, and professionalism in all interactions with clients, families, and colleaguesQUALIFICATIONS
Education Board Certification in Music Therapy, requiredBachelor's degree in Music Therapy, requiredMaster's Degree in Music Therapy, preferredNeurologic Music Therapy Certification, preferredExperience Experience working with diverse populations, requiredAbility to teach beginner level piano, guitar, and voice, required2-4 years of clinical experience in Music Therapy, preferredExperience providing services in group settings, preferredExperience developing curriculum, preferredSkills & AbilitiesStrong communication skillsStrong organizational skillsAbility to work in self-directed work environmentsDemonstrated cultural competency skillsCommitment to inclusive, student-centered teaching
