Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing exceptional patient care and administrative support in various medical settings, including dermatology, urgent care, and hospital medicine. This position requires a strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology, along with proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems. The Medical Assistant will be responsible for assisting healthcare professionals in delivering high-quality patient services while ensuring a smooth operational flow within the clinic or hospital environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist healthcare providers with patient examinations and procedures
  • Perform intake assessments, including taking vital signs and documenting medical histories
  • Administer medications as directed by physicians and ensure proper documentation
  • Provide medical administrative support by managing patient records and scheduling appointments
  • Utilize EHR systems for accurate data entry and retrieval of patient information
  • Conduct basic life support measures when necessary and maintain certification
  • Prepare patients for X-rays or other diagnostic tests as required
  • Support inpatient and outpatient care across various specialties such as internal medicine, geriatrics, and emergency medicine
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in a Level I or Level II trauma center setting
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the clinical environment to ensure compliance with health regulations

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a medical assistant role is preferred, particularly in dermatology, urgent care, or hospital settings
  • Knowledge of ICD coding, medical terminology, and basic anatomy/physiology is essential
  • Familiarity with both inpatient and outpatient care processes
  • Experience working in a clinic environment or with pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) patients is advantageous
  • Ability to perform tasks related to medication administration and emergency response protocols
  • Strong interpersonal skills to provide excellent patient service and support healthcare teams effectively
  • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) is required; additional certifications related to specific specialties are a plus
