Director, Hacker Success Remote Location: Seattle, WA; San Francisco Bay Area; Austin, TX; or Washington, DC and London, UKHackerOne is seeking an experienced, strategic, and community-driven leader to serve as Director, Hacker Success. In this role, you will own the vision, strategy, and outcomes of our Hacker Success function, ensuring that HackerOne remains the #1 source of opportunity, education, and support for the global hacker community.
You will lead and scale a function responsible for driving hacker success, engagement, and advocacy across the platform. This includes shaping HackerOne's approach to researcher growth and retention, aligning with product and customer-facing teams, and representing the hacker community internally and externally. You will be accountable for organizational design, strategic priorities, and delivering measurable impact across community and customer outcomes.
This is a highly visible leadership role that requires cross-department influence, strong people leadership, and the ability to translate HackerOne's company strategy into durable systems and scalable programs that empower hackers worldwide.

Your Impact at HackerOneAs Director, Hacker Success Program, you will:
Own the Vision & Strategy: Define and drive the long-term vision for the Hacker Success function, aligning departmental goals with HackerOne's mission, product strategy, and growth priorities. Serve as a strategic partner in shaping HackerOne's holistic community strategy.
Build & Scale the Organization: Design and evolve the Hacker Success organization to meet future needs, including role design, hiring plans, and succession. Manage and grow managers and senior ICs, building a leadership pipeline and setting durable systems for accountability.
Champion the Hacker Community: Serve as the senior voice of the global hacker community internally and externally. Represent hackers at executive forums, with customers, and at industry events to ensure their perspectives shape company strategy, product, and programs.
Lead Cross-Functional Impact: Drive alignment across Product, Customer Success, Revenue, and Marketing to ensure hacker success translates into business outcomes. Lead cross-department initiatives that expand hacker engagement, retention, and advocacy.
Oversee the Hacker Advisory Board: Partner with and elevate the Hacker Advisory Board, ensuring its diverse insights drive company-wide investments and program development at scale.
Embed AI & Data at Scale: Build an AI-first, data-driven function that leverages insights to guide strategy, measure hacker growth and retention, and drive operational excellence. Balance efficiency with the human connection that sustains long-term engagement.
Innovate for Scale: Redesign processes and programs from first principles to enable sustainable, global growth. Anticipate future community needs and launch initiatives that expand HackerOne's impact.
Be a Trusted Executive Voice: Advocate for hackers as a senior functional leader, representing the community to e-staff, customers, and the broader industry. Influence strategic decisions with evidence-based insights and community perspective.
10+ years of experience in community, customer success, or related roles supporting technical audiences.
Minimum 5+ years as a people manager, with experience managing managers and scaling organizations.
Proven ability to translate company strategy into departmental vision, org design, and measurable outcomes.
Proven success in implementing strategic investments at scale.
Strong record of building durable, scalable systems and leading through change.
AI-first mindset: experience embedding AI into workflows, systems, and decision-making.
Data-driven leader with a track record of using evidence to drive functional decisions.
Skilled in external representation: public speaking, executive communication, and industry advocacy.
Deeply customer- and community-obsessed, with a strong understanding of how to balance hacker needs with business impact.
