Clinical Program Intern

POSITION SUMMARY
Hoyleton welcomes students with an interest in community representation, fostering a reach to communities with limited access to mental health services for individuals and families through compassionate, evidence-based care. Hoyleton Youth and Family Services offers internship opportunities for students pursuing master's degrees in, counseling, family therapy or social work (clinical only). These internships provide hands-on experience in social and human services, including counseling, mental health, and nonprofit management.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provides individual, group and family therapy as needed in an office or out of office setting utilizing evidence-based practices and a variety of therapeutic approaches. Out of office settings may include but are not limited to the following: schools, churches and community settings.
- Provides information and linkage to community resources according to client/ family need.
- Completes diagnostic assessment and develops the Integrated Assessment and Treatment Plan with the client, parent/guardian, and/or case workers. Follows all regulations when completing initial reviews and/or updates for all required paperwork.
- Schedules clinical case staffing to assure consistent communication with other professional staff involved with the client.
- Collaborates with external agencies and programs as needed to coordinate services on the behalf of the individuals we serve.
- Maintains accurate and timely case records based on Medicaid Rule 132 and Managed Care Organization requirements.
- Participates in weekly supervision with direct supervisor to explore areas of strength and growth.
- Completes other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and written in a professional manner
- Ability to receive and incorporate constructive feedback regarding performance, presentation and relationships with others.
- Must possess the knowledge, personal qualities and practice skills to work effectively with professionals in other organizations and from other disciplines and to provide services in a manner that reflects understanding and appreciation of multiculturalism.
- Must meet DCFS/CANTS Clearance Requirements.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and maintain proof of automobile insurance.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- Students with diverse backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives who are committed to serving individuals, families, and communities through compassionate, evidence-based care.
- Applicants cannot be a current Hoyleton intern or employee.
- Must be a Master's level intern student (in field)
CARE & TCI
Hoyleton has adopted the CARE (Children and Residential Experience), developed by Cornell University, to guide our culture and practice. CARE is grounded in six core principles: Developmentally Focused, Family Involved, Relationship Based, Ecologically Oriented, Competence Centered, and Trauma Informed.
Completion of CARE and TCI training is an internal requirement for all staff and must be completed upon hire. Ongoing application of these principles is expected and essential to successful job performance.
TCI (Therapeutic Crisis Intervention). Employees must:
- Pass the written test annually
- Pass the physical test every six months (if applicable to their role)
Consistent participation and application of both CARE and TCI principles drive company culture and are essential to job performance.
Working Conditions
This position operates in a professional office or community-based environment and may require travel to agency sites / client locations based on role responsibilities.
The role involves periods of walking, standing, or sitting, and may occasionally require climbing stairs, bending, kneeling, or lifting materials up to 10 pounds, depending on job duties.
Minimal exposure to environmental factors such as noise, dust, or varying indoor/outdoor temperatures may occur depending on program needs and client-related activities.
Salary Description
The scholarship award is a total of $20,000, which will be paid out on a schedule after successful completion of required hours, and paid on a quarterly basis.
