Construction Area Manager

We have an opening for an experienced Construction Area Manager. The Area Manager role oversees construction operations across multiple residential communities, providing leadership, guidance, and accountability to construction managers and field teams. This role ensures schedules, quality, safety, and customer satisfaction standards are consistently met in a manner aligned with our company core values of Acting with Integrity, Building the People, Cultivating Collaboration, Celebrating Success, and Being the Example.

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Leadership & Team Management

  • Supervise, mentor, and develop construction managers and field staff across assigned communities.
  • Conduct regular jobsite visits to monitor progress, quality, and compliance with company standards.
  • Provide coaching, performance evaluations, and support for continuous improvement.
  • Assist with onboarding and training new construction team members.

Project & Schedule Management

  • Manage production schedules across communities to ensure timely home delivery.
  • Identify potential delays and implement corrective actions proactively.
  • Monitor construction cycle times and recommend process improvements.

Quality Control & Safety

  • Enforce high-quality construction standards, ensuring all homes meet company specifications and local building codes.
  • Conduct quality walks and ensure issues are documented and resolved promptly.
  • Promote and enforce safety policies; ensure jobsite OSHA compliance.

Trade Partner & Supplier Coordination

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with trade partners and vendors.
  • Support trade capacity planning and resolve trade performance challenges.
  • Ensure accurate and timely purchase order and variance management.

Customer Experience

  • Support the customer service team by ensuring homes are delivered complete and ready at orientation.
  • Help resolve escalated construction issues impacting the customer journey.

Budget & Cost Management

  • Monitor budgets, variances, and cost efficiencies across assigned communities.
  • Partner with purchasing and operations teams to control costs and minimize waste.

Compliance & Reporting

  • Ensure compliance with all building codes, permitting requirements, and company policies.
  • Provide timely, accurate reporting on schedules, starts, completions, and production challenges.

Qualifications

Required:

  • 8+ years of residential construction experience, with at least 2 years in an Area Manager role or above.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, building codes, and homebuilding processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and teams simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with construction software
  • Valid driver's license; ability to travel to job sites daily.
  • Ability to carry out physical requirements of the job.

Preferred:

  • OSHA 30 certification.
  • Knowledge of Orlando-area building codes, trades, and industry standards.
