Description
Boulder County invites interested individuals to submit applications for the role of Deputy District Attorney for the 20th Judicial District Attorney's Office. The Deputy District Attorney I is an entry level attorney; responsibilities include managing a county court docket and developing trial skills; acts as a professional representative of the Office of the District Attorney; follows office policies and procedures; seeks guidance, as necessary; demonstrates a strong work ethic and sound ethical judgment; works well with staff, victims, witnesses, co-workers, and court staff; treats co-workers, the public, defendants, and defense attorneys with respect; maintains the highest level of professionalism; at all times maintains the highest standards of honesty, integrity, and ethics.
The 20th Judicial District Attorney is an elected state official, whose office prosecutes adult and juvenile criminal charges, serves as an advisor to Boulder County law enforcement agencies, provides aid to victims and witnesses, appears before and advises grand juries, and pursues remedies for consumer fraud on behalf of individual residents of Boulder County.
This is a full-time, benefited position with the 20th Judicial District Attorney's Office -Boulder County. Work hours are Monday through Friday, as well as periodic on call duty. The Deputy District Attorney will work out of the Boulder or Longmont office.
Under FLSA guidelines this position is exempt.
Boulder County requires its employees to reside in the state of Colorado as of the first day of work.
Salary/Hiring Range - $96,480-$102,288
In addition to the Boulder County benefits, the District Attorney's Office offers:
- Work From Home two-days a week, if duties allow, after 6 months of employment with the office
- An enhanced Extended Parental Leave Policy for up to an additional 12 weeks of parental leave.

- Prepares and tries cases involving misdemeanor, traffic and petty offenses
- Assists the Chief Deputy in the intake of misdemeanor and traffic cases
- Explains and interprets statutes and status of various cases to the general public, and determines the adequacy of complaints presented by the public
- Assists district court and juvenile court deputies in the prosecution of routine felony matters
- Periodically serves on call to provide legal advice to law enforcement agencies and answer immediate questions from the general public
- Attorneys will be required, on occasion, to respond to crime scenes at all hours and weekends
- Candidates will be expected to have a strong work ethic and demonstrate good teamwork
- Performs related work, as required
- May be reassigned during emergency situations
Required Qualifications
Boulder County is looking for well qualified candidates to fill our positions.
In this position, we are looking for a Bachelor of Law (LLB) or Juris Doctorate (JD)
License Requirements

Vacation**
80-hour bank of vacation at the time of hire

PERA- The County and all employees pay into both Social Security and PERA
Employer contribution to Social Security: 7.65% of salary
- Employer contribution to PERA (Local Government Division- most county employees: 14.76%
- The District Attorney's Office observe Francis Xavier Cabrini Day on the first Monday in October and omit the Friday after Thanksgiving
- Vacation and Medical leave are based off of full time FTE accruals. Part-time FTE/term employees accrue leave based on the percentage of time they work.
