RSM's Financial Services practice serves a range of clients in the asset management, capital markets, financial institutions, specialty finance, and insurance industries. On this particular team, you'll work with complex clients in the Financial Institutions industry with a focus on financial institutions and banks. Our team focuses on tax compliance and tax consulting for some of the most complex and well-known companies in the financial institutions and banking industry.

As a Tax Senior Manager, you will be responsible for the following job duties, which are centered around three core concepts: Technical & Quality Expertise, People & Talent Management, and Client Service/Business Development.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage complex client engagements with a focus on high-value quality tax advice and seek to expand services to Financial Institution clients
  • May have people leadership responsibilities
  • Develop, motivate, and train staff level team members
  • Work on multiple complex issues while communicating in a non-technical manner to facilitate communication between the client and the service team while managing the risk for both the client and the firm
  • Drive growth and profitability to the Financial Institutions practice by generating new revenue on existing client portfolio, cross selling and acquiring clients for the tax practice
  • Interact directly with clients handling questions, planning, consulting, etc.
  • Serve as tax client service coordinator while developing and executing the firm's client service plan
  • Review research findings and ensure conclusions are consistent with firm policies and professional standards
  • Build relationships across lines of business to ensure excellent client service through an integrated service approach
  • Manage corporate client needs with respect to tax services and federal and state tax compliance
  • Remain up-to-date on current tax practices and changes in tax law
  • Some travel may be required (varies based on location, line of business and client need)

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field
  • 8+ years of experience in business taxation working for a Big 4 or a large national, regional or local accounting firm; or equivalent in industry or with a law firm
  • Active CPA, JD/LLM, or EA
  • Extensive tax compliance & consulting experience serving Financial Institution clients
  • Strong working knowledge of tax code and technical aspects of tax preparation and compliance
  • Ability to manage and grow a book of business
  • Proven track record simultaneously managing multiple projects and client engagement teams from start-to-end

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters of Accounting, Masters of Taxation or MBA
  • Proven track record generating new business and extending service opportunities

At RSM, an employee's pay at any point in their career is intended to reflect their experiences, performance, and skills for their current role. The salary range (or starting rate for interns and associates) for this role represents numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, education, skills, work experience, certifications, location, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.

Compensation Range: $126,100 - $253,000

Individuals selected for this role will be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on firm and individual performance.
