Job Description
The West Knox Utility District is presently hiring for a Wastewater Construction Technician Level I. Under general supervision, the qualified applicant will perform such duties as maintenance and repair of the wastewater collection system, perform line installation repair, line location, and preventative maintenance on the system. Other daily responsibilities include operating machinery, tools, equipment trucks, and any other vehicles owned and operated by West Knox Utility District. The qualified applicant must be at least 21 years of age or older and possess a current CDL license. West Knox Utility District will require the potential candidate to undergo a drug and alcohol screening prior to employment.
Qualifications
- Requires high school diploma or GED
- Requires knowledge of the methods, materials, and techniques used
- Requires capability to operate and maintain construction equipment
- Requires knowledge of safety practices and procedures including trench safety, confined spaces, and traffic control
- Must be able to operate various hand and power tools, backhoe, air compressors, road boring equipment, and dump truck, flush truck and vacuum truck
- Requires CDL license.
Essential Job Functions
- Works on a crew to perform general repair, maintenance and installation of sewer lines.
- Locates lines, excavates and repairs.
- Repairs yards and does landscaping.
- Locates and inspects manholes.
- Smoke tests sewer lines.
- Operates backhoe, bobcat, flush truck, vacuum truck, dump truck and other trucks and equipment.
- Interfaces with customers on problems, complaints, and inquiries.
- Performs general maintenance on tools and equipment.
- Assist crews performing CCTV of sewer lines
Environmental Conditions
- Works outside in all types of weather.
- Works around noise, mud, grease, oil, dirt, dust and related conditions.
- Hazards include working in deep ditches, confined spaces, operating equipment, and working in moving traffic.
- Sometimes works near moving mechanical parts and is exposed to wet or humid conditions, fumes, chemicals, vibrations, etc.
Schedule:
- 8 hour shift
- On call
