Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated Land Surveying Crew Assistant to support our surveying team in various field and office tasks. This entry-level position offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in land surveying, mapping, and data collection. The ideal candidate will be physically capable of heavy lifting, detail-oriented, and eager to learn technical skills related to civil engineering and geospatial analysis.

Duties

  • Reports to Survey Crew Chief.
  • Work as part of a team, often under close supervision from a surveyor.
  • Ability to follow instructions and procedures.
  • Physical stamina to perform manual labor in various weather conditions and terrains.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Performs basis math.
  • Assists survey crew chief with construction layout surveys, boundary surveys, topographic surveys, and other duties as assisned.
  • Assist with conducting land surveys by setting up and holding survey equipment.
  • Place stakes and markings for boundary surveys and construction staking.
  • Measure and record distances and record readings, angles, and elevations accurately.
  • Clear brush and other obstructions from survey sites.
  • Operate and maintain survey equipment to ensure it is in good working order.
  • Transport equipment to and from remote job sites.
  • Prepare the survey area and clean up after survey activity is completed

Experience

  • Prior experience or coursework in land surveying, civil engineering, or GIS is preferred but not required.
  • Familiarity with surveying tools such as GPS devices, 3D scanners, and data collection equipment is a plus .
  • Knowledge of CAD software including AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, MicroStation, or Carlson is advantageous.
  • Understanding of GIS platforms like ArcGIS and data analysis skills are beneficial.
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Experience with hand tools and construction practices is desirable but training will be provided for the right candidate

This position provides valuable experience supporting professional surveyors while developing technical skills essential for a career in land development or civil engineering.

Job Types: Full-time, Temporary

Pay: $42, $52,000.00 per year
