Job Summary

The Engineer is an integral member of the engineering team, responsible for providing technical support in the execution of customer orders. This role involves collaborating with various departments within the Quantum Group to ensure engineering requirements are clearly defined, accurately implemented, and aligned with customer specifications. The Engineer will support cross-functional teams by contributing technical expertise throughout the product lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure each new equipment sale is properly engineered.
  • Review and interpret contracts for technical content and accuracy.
  • Communicate internally to trouble shoot and problem solve all technical, scheduling, and supply issues.
  • Assist Project Managers with accuracy of equipment placement within the vessel per the customer's specifications.
  • Internally define the scope of supply and parts required to ensure technical and contractual compliance.
  • Assist with technical manual review and revisions.
  • Report work progress to Project Department Manager on a day-to-day basis.
  • Report on project progress and communicate relevant information to Engineering Manager on a weekly basis or as needed.
  • Provide engineering and project support to:
  • Project Mangers for technical content and accuracy of sales quotes.
  • Production and Materials teams, to ensure material requisition and production continue according to schedule and quality requirements.
  • Commissioning, Warranty, and Service teams, to address project or product related issues.
  • Aid in maintaining product quality controls standards.
  • Maintain the highest engineering and ethical standards.
  • Any and all duties as reasonably assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field; advanced degrees are a plus.
  • Marine background and experience is preferred.
  • Entry level to 5 years of working experience in appropriate discipline is required.
  • Ability to read, analyze, review, and interpret hydraulic, mechanical and other technical drawings, documents, regulations, and journals is required.
  • Experience and proficiency of a 3D CAD software is required; AutoCAD or SolidEdge knowledge is preferred.
  • Proficiency in the following programs is preferred: Rhino, MathCAD, MATLAB, Microsoft Dynamics, and Microsoft Project.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint) is required.

  • Highly organized with good time management skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize in order to meet tight deadlines.
  • Polished and professional written and verbal communication skills with strong proof-reading/editing capabilities.
  • Positive, inquisitive, proactive, and collaborative attitude with the ability to work well with all Company employees, customers, vendors, suppliers, and the general public.
  • Maintain professional internal and external relationships that meet the Company core values.
  • Build trust, communicate effectively, foster innovation, focus on the customer and solve problems creatively and demonstrate high integrity.
  • Fluency in any of the following languages is an advantage; German, Dutch, French, Spanish, and/or Italian.
  • Exposure with regulatory agencies, such as ABS, Lloyds, DNV GL is preferred.

Travel

This position may occasionally travel to customer sites both domestic and international. The ability and willingness to travel is required. A valid passport, driver's license is required for this position.

Expected Work Hours

This is an in-person, full-time salary exempt position. As such, the employee is expected to work Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. As a salary exempt employee, this position may require additional work hours outside these work hours, including weekends to complete job requirements.
