JOB SUMMARY
The Senior Accountant will maintain and control the General Ledger accounts and business transactions of the organization, applying the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) that includes analytical work and thorough review of financial records.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Oversee the activities of the accounting department for the accurate and timely dissemination of financial management reports including, but not limited to, internal and external monthly financial statements and annual audits and annual budgets.
· Assist with the day-to-day, monthly and year-end operations of the Accounting/Finance Department including general ledger analysis.
· Perform the processing and recording of accounts payable transactions and ensure that all invoices and staff reimbursements are paid accurately and in accordance with Finance policies and procedures
· Manage the processing of invoicing, cash receipts, recording of revenue and receivables and work closely with the Development Team to ensure that revenues and receivables are posted accurately and timely
· Review expense coding to ensure all costs, including AP, AMEX, staff reimbursements, are coded accurately and correct when needed.
· Perform the processing of functional and benefits expense allocations, monthly accruals, amortization of prepaid expenses, fixed assets depreciation and recording of adjusting and reclassification journal entries, if necessary.
· Assist with aligning actual vs. budget and reviewing anomalies.
· Perform general accounts analysis and reconciliations, including bank statements, fixed assets, employer's benefit costs, accruals and prepaid expenses.
· Write or update departmental standard procedures as needed
Assist in the preparation of financial reports such as financial statements, budget performance, sales reports and other adhoc financial needs
· Perform adhoc accounting duties as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS OR EXPERIENCE/TRAINING REQUIRED
· Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
· Hands on ERP experience a must.
· 3+ years of Manufacturing Accounting experience with cost accounting
· Excellent Excel skills- pivots, power pivots, VBA or Macros, v-lookups, financial modeling, and analysis
· Excellent analytical skills with a strong focus on accuracy and attention to detail
· Excellent communication skills and high confidence in stating professional opinions.
· Strong grasp of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) accounting and general accounting concepts.
· Demonstrated ability to streamline and automate complex processes.
· Food industry experience a plus
· Crystal or SQL reporting experience a plus

Working conditions
