Who We NeedRequired Skills:
5+ years of government contract project accounting and billing experience. Direct experience billing T&M and FFP contracts in a DCAA-compliant environment. Working knowledge of FAR/DFARS, cost allowability (FAR Part 31), and audit support requirements. Familiarity with government accounting systems and timekeeping controls (Deltek, Unanet, or similar preferred). Strong understanding of GAAP and revenue recognition concepts. Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, reconciliations). Strong attention to detail and documentation discipline. Ability to meet deadlines in a compliance-driven environment. Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Ability to handle sensitive and confidential financial information. Clear, professional communication skills with Project Managers, Contracts, Accounting, and auditors.Preferred Skills:

Lead the preparation, review, and submission of customer invoices in accordance with contract terms (T&M, FFP), funding limitations, and FAR/DFARS requirements. Own contract funding oversight, including ceilings, burn rates, limitations, and forward-looking forecasts across the project portfolio; proactively identify, communicate, and mitigate funding and compliance risks. Review contracts, task orders, and modifications to ensure accurate billing structures, CLIN setup, funding alignment, and regulatory compliance. Partner closely with Project Managers to understand the full financial performance of their project portfolios, including revenue, cost, margin, funding status, and forecast-to-complete. Serve as a trusted financial advisor to Project Managers by translating financial data into actionable insights that support operational and contractual decision-making. Validate billable labor, subcontractor costs, and milestone / deliverable completion prior to invoicing, ensuring alignment with contract and financial expectations. Lead recurring spend calls with Project Managers, driving accountability around budget execution and forecast accuracy. Monitor billing and collections performance; provide portfolio-level reporting on billed, unbilled, AR aging, cash collections, and overall contract financial health. Maintain complete, organized, and audit-ready billing, contract, and project documentation. Prepare and review journal entries and support period-end close activities related to project accounting and revenue recognition. Support internal and external audits (DCAA, DCMA, and customer audits) and respond to audit requests with clear, well-supported documentation. Identify trends, risks, and opportunities across the contract portfolio and recommend process improvements or corrective actions.
