OR Attendant

Job: OR Attendant  Classification: Hourly/Non-Exempt Job Category: 3 Technicians Position Summary The OR Attendant assists in patient care activities and institutional services in the Operating Room under the direction of a Registered Nurse and according to the departmental policies.  The OR Attendant I performs housekeeping and transporting duties and specific institutional nursing service duties appropriate and authorized by the situation. Essential Functions -Opens department each morning. -Prepares housekeeping cart for the day's use. -Fills blanket warmer with blankets and fluids. -Assists in putting up supplies from purchasing. -Turns rooms around between cases when necessary. -Assists with transporting, turning and positioning patients. -Run errands as necessary. -Cleans and restocks bathrooms daily. -Cleans and wipes out refrigerator with germicide weekly. -Keeps rooms stocked with specimen containers. -Does general housekeeping duties as needed. -Assists in terminally cleaning of O.R. rooms monthly. -Orders disposable equipment (masks, shoe covers, etc.) weekly. -Documents appropriate data as required by department. -Demonstrates ability to comprehend and follow written instructions, read and write English and perform simple math calculations. -Adheres to and follows all patient experience initiatives. -Reports to and departs from work on time and as scheduled. -Performs other duties as assigned. -Must be able to deal with stress while maintaining composure. -Follows and adheres to TRMC vaccine policy(s) mandated by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). Work Experience -One year of housekeeping and/or transporting experience preferred. Education -High School graduate or equivalent preferred. Physical Demands and Work Environment Lifting/Carrying    Pushing/Pulling Lbs.      % Time     Lbs.      % Time  Movement % Time Bend/Stoop/Twist Crouch/Squat Kneel/Craw Reach above Shoulder Reach below Shoulder 34-66 Repetitive Arm Repetitive Hand Grasping Squeezing Climb Stairs Walking Uneven Walking Even Environment % Time Indoors Outdoors Extreme Heat      None Dusty Excessive Noise Equipment       % Time Motor Vehicles    None Foot Pedals None Extreme Heat      None Dusty Excessive Noise Work near % Time Machinery Electricity Sharps Chemicals Fumes Heights Vision Depth Perception    Required < 20" Required Color Not Required Peripheral Required Endurance       Hours at Once      Total in 12HR Sit Stand Walk
