Description

he University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC), Division of Pediatric Cardiology, is seeking full-time, non-tenure track, clinician-educator or clinician-scientist faculty position (Assistant Professor rank). Academic rank at the time of appointment shall be commensurate with experience and credentials. 

Responsibilities

The primary role for this position contributes to the clinical, research, educational, and/or service mission of the Division of Pediatric Cardiology. Primary responsibilities involve the inpatient and outpatient management of patients with cardiovascular disease.  

  • Clinical Care (85% effort): Providing direct clinical and clinical administrative Cardiology services in Memphis and one outreach area a week (Jonesboro, AR). 
  • Education and Training (5% effort): Responsibilities include training students and professional trainees (both in Pediatrics and in other professions in an interdisciplinary graduate level training program), and supervision of students/trainees in the context of Pediatric Cardiology programs. 
  • Service (5% effort): The Department is supportive of community leadership and advocacy roles.
  • Research and Academics (5% effort): The Department is supportive of contributions to scholarly activity, including research. Should research effort be pursued, successful acquisition of funding would allow increased time and protected effort for research and related academic activities as appropriate for the position. Other academic obligations include participation in department and division teaching conferences and serving on hospital and university committees as directed by the Chair of Pediatrics or Division Chief of Pediatric Cardiology.
Qualifications

EDUCATION: Requires an MBBS, M.D. or D.O. or equivalent degree. 

LICENSES: The applicant should be licensed or license-eligible in Tennessee as a Physician, Health Service Provider and will be expected to be board-certified by the American Board of Pediatrics within 3 years.
