A major industrial manufacturing operation is seeking a Process Systems and Continuous Improvement Engineer to strengthen reliability, modernize mill-wide control systems, and standardize best practices across operations. This role blends process optimization, control-system stewardship, and technical leadership—ideal for someone who can improve how the plant runs, not just how the PLCs run.

This is a fully onsite position in Wabash, IN with relocation support.

What You'll Do

· Lead and develop technicians supporting process control, networks, and mill automation tools

· Champion a proactive safety culture and ensure compliance with NFPA, OSHA, and NEMA standards

· Standardize controls and process practices across departments and sister sites

· Build long-term strategies for reliability, uptime, system modernization, and data visibility

· Evaluate new technologies to improve process stability and equipment performance

· Oversee installation, upgrades, and commissioning of PLCs, DCS, scanners, drives, and related systems

· Administer control-system backups, patches, logic changes, and documentation

· Program, troubleshoot, and optimize PLC/DCS logic as needed

· Maintain accurate records of system changes, upgrades, and preventive work

· Manage critical spares for controls, sensors, and industrial networks

· Provide on-call support for critical failures or production-impacting issues

· Train operators and E&I technicians on troubleshooting, drives, networks, and controls fundamentals

· Partner with engineering, maintenance, and operations to diagnose chronic issues and drive continuous improvement

What You Need

· High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree preferred

· 7+ years of industrial experience in process controls, automation, or manufacturing systems

· Hands-on experience training technicians in PLCs, drives, and network troubleshooting

· Strong working knowledge of NFPA, OSHA, and industrial safety standards

· Ability to design and maintain practical, reliable control strategies across a mill environment

· Strong analytical mindset and root-cause problem-solving skills

· Pulp & paper experience is helpful, but any heavy industrial manufacturing background is welcome

Additional Details

· Day shift role with occasional off-shift support

· National search with relocation assistance provided

· Onsite-only; not a remote or hybrid position

· Must be able to safely navigate mill environments, ladders, and stairs
