Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Retail Assistant Manager to join our team. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with strong leadership skills, retail management experience, and a passion for delivering exceptional customer service. The Retail Assistant Manager will oversee daily store operations, manage staff, and ensure the achievement of sales goals while maintaining a positive shopping environment. The ideal candidate will possess excellent organizational, communication, and management skills, with a background in retail sales, inventory control, and team supervision.

Duties

  • Assist in managing daily store operations, including opening and closing procedures
  • Supervise and motivate staff to achieve sales targets and deliver outstanding customer service
  • Oversee inventory management, stock replenishment, and merchandising to optimize product presentation
  • Handle cashiering duties, including cash handling, POS transactions, and pricing accuracy
  • Conduct employee orientation, training & development sessions to enhance team performance
  • Participate in recruiting efforts through interviewing and selecting qualified candidates
  • Manage payroll processing and bookkeeping tasks related to store operations
  • Develop and implement marketing strategies to increase store visibility and sales
  • Maintain effective communication with team members and upper management regarding store performance
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and customer service protocols
  • Monitor sales metrics and retail math to inform decision-making and improve store profitability
  • Coordinate purchasing activities and manage vendor relationships for inventory procurement
  • Oversee shift management to ensure smooth operation during scheduled hours

Skills

  • Proven experience in retail management or assistant manager roles with supervising responsibilities
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop a team
  • Excellent communication skills, including phone etiquette and customer service excellence
  • Proficiency in POS systems, retail math, inventory management software, and bookkeeping tools
  • Ability to handle cash handling accurately and perform retail math calculations confidently
  • Skilled in negotiation, purchasing, merchandising, and pricing strategies
  • Multilingual or bilingual abilities are a plus for serving diverse customer bases effectively
  • Experience in recruiting, interviewing, employee orientation, training & development
  • Organizational skills with attention to detail in inventory control and stock management
  • Time management skills to prioritize tasks efficiently during shift management
  • Knowledge of wireless sales or grocery store operations is advantageous
  • Strong administrative skills including budgeting, marketing coordination, and store management functions
  • Leadership qualities with the ability to supervise staff effectively while fostering a positive work environment
