Overview

We are seeking a custodian to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment throughout the facilities of Texas Girls & Boys Ranch. This role requires an understanding of working in a Christian environment and contributing to a positive and welcoming atmosphere by upholding high standards of cleanliness and organization.

Duties

  • Clean and sanitize restrooms, kitchens, offices, classrooms, and common areas of Education/ Recreation, Counseling Center, Chapel, and Administration buildings.
  • Clean and set up gym or other common areas for events.
  • Sweep, mop, vacuum, and dust floors and surfaces throughout the facility.
  • Empty trash and recycling bins and dispose of waste properly.
  • Restock supplies such as soap, paper towels, and toilet paper.
  • Maintain cleaning equipment and notify supervisor of any needed repairs or replacements.
  • Follow safety procedures and use protective equipment when handling cleaning chemicals.
  • Assist with setting up and cleaning after meetings, events, and special functions.
  • Report any maintenance issues or safety hazards to the appropriate personnel.
  • Ensure all cleaning tasks are completed in accordance with health and safety regulations.
  • Demonstrate competency, prudent judgment, and self-control in the presence of children and when performing assigned responsibilities.
  • Report suspected abuse, neglect, and exploitation to the Child Abuse Hotline and to the designated administrator.
  • Attend mandatory meetings and participate on committees as assigned.
  • Demonstrate cultural sensitivity to clients of any ethnic, race, or socio-economic group.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • A driving record which will allow coverage on Texas Girls & Boys Ranch automobile insurance policy.
  • Meet the requirements of licensing standards in regards to criminal background checks.
  • Be physically, mentally, and emotionally capable of performing assigned tasks and have the skills necessary to perform assigned tasks.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team.
  • Basic knowledge of cleaning supplies, equipment, and safety procedures.
  • Ability to positively represent Texas Girls & Boys Ranch internally and externally.
