The Software Engineer, DevOps, is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining scalable, reliable, and secure infrastructure and deployment pipelines that support company goals and growth. This role bridges software development and IT operations, enabling continuous integration, continuous delivery, system reliability, and operational efficiency. The Software Engineer, DevOps, works cross-functionally with developers, end users, leadership, and third-party partners to ensure systems and applications are performant, resilient, and aligned with business requirements.
Duties:
- Partners with users, developers, and leadership to understand application and operational needs
- Serves as a liaison between development, IT, and operations, translating business and technical requirements into actionable solutions
- Designs, builds, and supports scalable and maintainable software solutions
- Evaluates and contributes to application, deployment, and infrastructure design decisions within time and resource constraints
- Builds proofs of concept and prototypes to support architectural decisions
- Designs and maintains CI/CD pipelines to automate build, test, and deployment processes
- Develops and supports cloud-based infrastructure with an emphasis on reliability and performance
- Automates deployments, infrastructure provisioning, and environment configuration
- Monitors systems and applications, troubleshoots production issues, and drives continuous improvement
- Supports and enhances existing applications and services
- Works with relational databases to support and optimize application data needs
- Conducts testing, validation, and release activities to ensure stable, compliant deployments
- Incorporates user and developer feedback to improve usability, reliability, and delivery efficiency
- Collaborates with software developers, solutions architect, system analysts, and external partners on current and future system design
- Advises on application and infrastructure maintenance, security, and operational best practices

Required Skills:
- Software Engineering & Automation
- 5+ years of professional experience in software engineering and/or DevOps
- Strong programming skills in Python, Java, C#, or Go
- Experience building automation, tooling, and backend services
- Solid understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) in regulated environments
- Proficiency with Git and enterprise branching strategies
- Cloud & Infrastructure
- Hands-on experience with AWS or Azure (preferred: AWS)
- Compute, storage, networking, IAM
- Experience designing high availability, fault-tolerant systems
- Infrastructure provisioning using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform required)
- Experience managing non-prod, staging, and production environments
- CI/CD & Deployment
- Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins)
- Automated build, test, and deployment workflows
- Experience supporting release management and rollback strategies
- Artifact versioning and promotion controls

- Strong experience with Docker
- Experience deploying and operating applications on Kubernetes (EKS, AKS, or equivalent)

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field preferred
- Healthcare industry experience in a similar role preferred
- Prior exposure to HIPAA privacy and security requirements is highly preferred
