Job Summary
The Electrical Repair Technician ("A" Electrician) diagnoses, repairs, and maintains electrical systems on MCTS vehicles and equipment in compliance with MCTS and DOT standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical components: alternators, motors (AC/DC), voltage regulators, switches, solenoids, gauges, pumps, control boards, fareboxes, and digital signs.
- Read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and blueprints.
- Maintain electronic systems (CLEVER hardware, fare collection, Luminator signage).
- Update software/firmware on electronic equipment.
- Use standard electrical test tools (multimeters, test stands, checkers).
- Lead and assist lower-level technicians.
- Perform field service calls and parts pickup using company vehicles.
Qualifications
- Must pass pre-employment testing.
- Valid WI Class "B" CDL with "P" endorsement (or ability to obtain).
- Must provide a full personal toolset.
- Strong diagnostic and electrical repair skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Dependable, detail-oriented, and able to work independently.
Physical Requirements
- Lift, push, and pull up to 75 lbs.; frequent bending and overhead work.
- Ability to use hand and power tools safely.
- Must wear OSHA-approved safety gear and have color vision.
