Get experience in a wide range of power plant technologies including biomass, municipal waste, geothermal, hydrogen, fossil fuel, carbon capture, battery energy storage, hydro, and solar.Summary Of Roles And ResponsibilitiesDesign light foundations and structures for solar farms, battery energy storage facilities, and substation projectsDesign heavy foundations and structures for large power generation projects: generators, turbines, transformers, pipe racks, gas compressors, metal building systems, and masonry walls/buildings.Design structural steel systems for buildings, Platforms, equipment supports, etc.Coordinate design requirements with drafter/designersOccasionally travel to clients and projects and sites to interface with clients, verify existing conditions, and monitor construction progress (5%-10% travel)Required Education/ExperienceCollege graduate to 6 years of structural engineering experience (2025/2026 graduates considered)BS Degree in Civil/Structural/Architectural Engineering from ABET Accredited UniversityBasic Knowledge of AutoCAD and/or MicroStation to interface with drafters/designersGood communication and interpersonal skillsIdeal Education/ExperienceMS Degree in Structural EngineeringEngineer in Training (EIT/FE Exam passed) or Professional Engineer licenseKnowledge and/or ability to learn structural modeling/analysis software (RISA, STAAD)Ability to work independently with minimal supervision - both individually, and as part of a project teamFamiliarity with power generation, transmission, and distribution projectsBasic knowledge of building codes and material properties/specificationsExposure to geotechnical engineeringExposure to pre-engineered metal building systemsExposure to seismic analysis and designOpen to longer duration field assignments with the duration of 1 to 18 monthsPOWER Engineers, Member of WSP, is a global consulting environmental and engineering firm and one of the top design firms in the energy sector.
