Job Title: Toolmaker, Grind Department

Reports to: Production Supervisor

Interfaces with: All Employees

Status: Full-time, hourly

Summary Set-up and operate Tool room grinders to produce tooling, machine parts, fixture details, and gage details that meet all blueprint specifications in a timely manner.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

· Read and interpret part detail prints in order to be able to make parts.

· Set-up surface grinders, OD/ID grinders or jig grinders, including selecting the proper grinding wheels and fixturing.

· Operate and run grinder to produce parts meeting all customer requirements, including loading and unloading of parts from grinder.

· Ability to grind hardened tool steel and hold tolerances in the range of +/-.0002" or .005mm.

· Measure and check own parts to ensure quality control.

· Produce parts in a timely manner and within allotted time per quotes and job history. Jobs are typically low volume and high variety.

· Keep work area and machine clean and orderly.

· Assist with implementing 5S throughout the tool room area.

· Perform any reasonable request made by the Production Supervisor.

· Be prepared for next grinding job; look at future jobs to make sure there is tooling in inventory or if special tooling (grinding wheels) needs to be built or ordered.

· Perform preventative maintenance on machines operated per ability.

Required Qualifications include the following.

· Must have advanced blueprint reading skills.

· Must have strong Shop Math skills, including familiarity with trigonometry.

· Must have own tools for toolmaking, including basic measuring devices.

· Must be able to work with English and metric units.

· Must have a great work ethic and positive attitude.

· Must be detail and quality oriented.

Job Type: Full-time

Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
