As a
Charge Nurse
, you play a key leadership role in promoting a safe, healing environment and supporting growth and excellence among your nursing team. You will guide clinical workflow, coordinate patient care, and serve as a resource to ensure high-quality outcomes for those we serve.

Position Summary
The
Charge Nurse - Medical-Surgical
provides clinical leadership and direct patient care within the Medical-Surgical Rehabilitation unit. This role oversees shift coordination, patient assignments, workflow, and unit operations. The Charge Nurse supports and guides the nursing team, fosters interdisciplinary collaboration, and upholds patient safety and quality care standards.

Reports To:
Nurse Manager / Department Director

Essential Functions

• Oversees staffing assignments, patient prioritization, and coordination of care throughout the shift.
• Provides direct clinical care using the nursing process in accordance with scope of practice and hospital policy.
• Serves as a clinical mentor, resource, and support to RNs, LPNs, CNAs, and techs.
• Performs patient rounding to assess needs, progress, and risk factors.
• Facilitates admissions, discharges, and patient flow for timely and safe transitions.
• Responds quickly to patient condition changes and leads emergency response interventions.
• Ensures adherence to infection prevention, patient safety, and regulatory standards.
• Promotes a collaborative, respectful, and supportive team culture.
• Documents assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in the EMR.

What We're Looking For

• Graduate of an accredited Registered Nursing Program
• Current RN license in Georgia (or compact state licensure)
• BLS/CPR required
• ACLS, PALS, CPI/Handle With Care preferred or obtained during orientation
• Minimum 1 year of acute care or rehab nursing experience preferred
• Prior Charge Nurse or team leadership experience preferred but not required
