Academic requirements

•    Master's degree in applied Behavior Analysis, Psychology, Counseling, or related field.

•    Current licensure and certification as a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of employment.
 

Other requirements

•    Strong knowledge of behavior analytic principles and/or mental health treatment strategies.

•    Excellent interpersonal, communication, and training skills.

•    Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.

•    Proficiency in documentation and data analysis.

•    Must pass background checks, TB testing, and drug screening as required by state regulations.

•    Maintain certification/licensure and complete required continuing education.

•    Ability to work in various settings such as office, residential, chapel and classroom. 
 

Experience

•    Experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), preferably in an ICF/IID or similar residential setting.
 

Work hours

•    This is a full-time Monday through Friday position. 

•    Calls or Campus visits during off hours may be necessary for behavioral crisis intervention. 
 

Job Description
The Behavior Support Specialist (BCBA or LPC) is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring individualized Behavior Support Plans (BSPs) for residents in the Intermediate Care Facility for Individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (ICF/IID). This role provides direct behavioral supports, trains staff in positive behavior support strategies and assists in addressing and managing behavioral concerns to promote the highest quality of life for residents.

•    Conduct functional behavioral assessments (FBAs) and collect behavioral data to inform interventions.

•    Develop individualized Behavior Support Plans (BSPs) in accordance with state and federal guidelines.

•    Train direct support professionals and other staff in the implementation of BSPs and positive behavior support strategies.

•    Monitor the effectiveness of BSPs through ongoing data collection, staff feedback, and direct observation.

•    Provide coaching and support to staff in managing challenging behaviors and implementing de-escalation techniques.

•    Participate as a member of the interdisciplinary team (IDT), collaborating with healthcare providers, therapists, and administrators.

•    Document behavioral interventions, progress, and outcomes in compliance with regulatory requirements.

•    Provide crisis intervention support as needed.

•    Ensure all interventions are ethical, evidence-based, and person-centered.

•    Stay current on best practices in the field of applied behavior analysis and mental health supports.
