Human Resources
- Work with managers to ensure the smooth processing of hourly payroll and hourly labor cost reports.
- Work as liaison with outsourced HR Business Partner in their oversight of: policy development and compliance, regulatory compliance, employee relations, unemployment claims administration, FMLA, payroll processing, onboarding, terminations, attendance management and compensation management. This includes supporting employees and managers with the use of our HRIS platform.
- Leads onboarding processes to integrate new associates into our work environment.
- Responds to other departments in regard to payroll and benefit issues.
- Writes or assists department heads in writing / updating job descriptions.
- Work with recruiting and temporary labor service providers to ensure the most efficient and effective means to fill open positions. This includes internal posting for job openings.
- Work with managers to reduce turnover and improve hourly employee retention.
- Support improvements in our employee training and development programs.
- Communicates with insurance broker to resolve insurance issues and to obtain answers to associate inquiries.
- Assists managers and outsourced HR Business Partner in counseling our employees and issuing disciplinary documents when needed. This includes capturing proper documentation.
- Responds to governmental requests for labor and work-related injuries / illnesses information when more than a basic, clerical answer is required.
Safety
- Leads deployment of safety program with Operations and Maintenance Managers using tools and techniques to achieve OSHA regulatory compliance and industry best practices.
- Support execution of safety programs such as safety training, accident investigations and facility inspections to help maintain OSHA compliance.
- Lead participation in our captive insurance risk control program in order to reduce accidents and material losses.
- Ensure follow up and proper management with Workers Compensation carrier and applicable claims.
General
- Participates in training exercises to remain current in practices relative to OSHA compliance, FMLA, and all other mandated Human Resource programs.
- Participates in association meetings outside the workplace to assist in maintaining relationships with other HR managers at other manufacturing facilities / other employers.
Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:
- Minimum of 5 years in HR Management role
- Minimum of 2 years in Safety related role
- Four year college degree with an emphasis in business and/or HRM subjects
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information
- Ability to maintain a positive and composed attitude while performing within stressful situations and handling complex issues
- Proficient in use of a PC with Microsoft Office suite
Preferred Qualifications/Requirements:
- HR continuing education or certification (i.e. SHRM association)
- Experience with Lean culture and processes
Physical Requirements:
- Able to move to all areas of the CBI site including inside and outside of the building
- Able to work in variable temperatures (70 to 90 degrees Fahrenheit)
Job Summary:
The Human Resource and Safety Generalist will work with HR outsourcing company to cover specific Human Resource functions and ensure compliance with labor laws. This position will have primary responsibility for recruiting and onboarding hourly personnel to fully staff our openings through the most efficient means. The generalist will work with Operations and Maintenance teams to improve the Safety Program, ensuring compliance with OSHA and other regulatory requirements.
