Duties Description
The incumbent will assist the Special Initiatives Manager in developing, implementing, and managing key projects and initiatives that further the Leadership Development Office's strategic objectives. This role involves collaboration with various divisions across DOL, stakeholders, and external partners to identify opportunities for innovation and improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the planning, execution, and evaluation of special initiatives (agency internship program, leadership training and executive mentor program (to be developed)
  • Support the implementation of a new Leadership Development Institute, specific to the DOL leadership needs modeled after OER's Leadership Development Program (PS&T), and the New York State Leadership Institute (NYSLI, M/C).
  • Identify trends, opportunities, and best practices relevant to special initiatives.
  • Monitor and evaluate initiative outcomes to ensure alignment with organizational goals.
  • Collaborate with divisions and stakeholders to gather insights and support for initiatives and integrating initiatives with organizational processes.
  • Prepare curriculum and present workshops on initiative topics to senior leadership and other stakeholders.
  • Communicate effectively to provide updates on project status and outcomes.
  • Identify and advocate for process improvements based on project learnings and stakeholder feedback through tracking, analyzing, and reports on program effectiveness and engagement metrics.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and innovative practices to implement that can benefit the organization.
  • Ensure projects are completed on time, and to the required agency quality standards.
  • Meet project timelines, and resource allocation plans.
  • Maintain detailed records of activities, prepare reports, and assist in preparing presentations for stakeholders and leadership.

Senior Administrative Analyst
Six years of experience conducting management and organizational studies to review and revise procedures for new or changing programs, review organizational performance, and develop internal controls; collecting data and conducting cost benefit or systems analysis to assist with organizational change; evaluating and developing recommendations to improve program operations and effectiveness; and designing and updating procedure manuals, forms, and policy.

  • Substitutions: An associate degree may substitute for two years of experience; a bachelor's degree may substitute for four years of experience; a master's degree may substitute for five years of experience; and a doctorate may substitute for six years of experience.
  • Your degree must have been awarded by a college or university accredited by a regional, national, or specialized agency recognized as an accrediting agency by the U.S. Department of Education/U.S. Secretary of Education. Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Project Management, Public Administration, Counseling, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in project management, strategic planning, program development, Facilitation & Training.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to travel as needed for project-related activities.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing circumstances and priorities.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in project management software and tools.
  • Familiarity with data analysis and reporting techniques.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Ability to initiate and maintain relationships across a diverse set of stakeholders.
